Sanjeev Began His Career as an Intern

To hone his skills and get practical exposure, Sanjeev started working as an intern at Barclays Capital in Mumbai and ANZ Grindlays Bank in Delhi. Though he gained significant knowledge, but deep inside he always wanted to build something of his own.

In 2001, Sanjeev’s family formed a partnership with Commerce One, a NASDAQ-listed company based in California. As per Sanjeev Nanda news, this partnership proved beneficial, and by working closely with the US team, Sanjeev also launched the company’s B2B venture in India.

Pursuit of an MBA and Entry into Hospitality

Since the beginning, Sanjeev wanted to earn an MBA degree and in 2002, he got admitted to Columbia University. However, changing circumstances in India forced him to change his plans as during the same time, his family expanded into the hospitality sector by acquiring The Claridges hotel in Delhi.

But determined to continue his education, he enrolled at INSEAD in January 2004 and completed his MBA.

Leadership in Hospitality Expansion

Post completing MBA, Sanjeev faced a critical moment when The Claridges lost its CEO. In 2005, he stepped into the leadership role, guiding the organisation through a challenging phase. In his leadership, the hospitality portfolio increased tremendously.

The group obtained the Sea Rock Hotel located in Mumbai, which was subsequently sold to the Taj Group in 2008. Sanjeev also introduced The Claridges, Surajkund, around Delhi, the same year, which further strengthened the brand’s name in the luxury hospitality market segment of India.
