carbonless copy paper

What is reverse carbonless paper?

Reverse carbonless paper, also known as NCR paper or no carbon required paper, differs from traditional carbon paper. Carbonless or NCR paper typically refers to the type of stock used in duplicate forms and carbon copies, but it has nothing to do with the size or dimensions of the form itself.

Carbonless paper comes in two pieces per page, with a cast on one side and a copy. This process is reversed with reverse carbonless paper; there are two blank pieces of stock per page with two form sides facing each other and no carbon copy needed.

Why do you need it?

If you’re searching for a way to track inventory, sales, or other data from your products in real-time, you might consider purchasing some reverse carbonless paper. This specialized type of paper allows users to quickly duplicate information from their computer onto any number of sheets that can be folded and stowed away for later use. It takes what would normally be a lengthy print job and makes it quick and easy.

The different types of reverse carbonless paper

Carbonless copy paper, envelopes, and labels are all available in two types: direct thermal and reverse. Even if your printer paper is a different brand than you currently use for business purposes (i.e., old HP vs. new Epson), most printers are compatible with direct thermal or reverse thermal printing technology.

The only difference between each type of paper is their adhesive—and that’s it! The rest of the physical properties remain unchanged between both versions, so what does that mean for you? It means less time shopping around for that perfect paper stock, which saves you money on shipping costs and gets your order to you faster.

It also means less hassle when it comes to ordering reams of paper at once and fewer trips to Staples to get more ink or toner cartridges when they run out. Reverse carbonless papers are not only cost-effective but environmentally friendly too! Using recycled materials to make them reduces landfill waste and helps save energy by using fewer raw materials during production.

Product Size

Reverse carbonless (or copy) paper comes in letter size, legal size, ledger size, and tabloid (tabloid can be trimmed to the letter or legal). Reverse copy paper must be used with either a digital duplicator or a copier/printer with a special feeder attachment.

Digital duplicators print onto both sides of an original document. The document exits one side while another blank sheet of paper enters on the other side. It is then fed back through where it prints on that blank sheet and again exits one side. For example, you might use a digital duplicator to make copies of payroll checks in an office setting. The employee list would be entered into word processing software; then printed onto regular copy (non-carbon) paper at any laser printer.

Can you print on the back of the carbonless paper?

The short answer is yes; you can print on both sides of carbonless paper. The longer answer: it’s not quite as simple as printing on one side and then flipping over your page, but it’s pretty close in most cases.

Carbonless, or NCR (no carbon required), forms are commonly used for payment receipts like invoices and checks. They’re designed to be used twice; once to copy information from the top of a form onto an invoice or check and then again when paying that invoice or check at a bank teller window. A standard printer can only do one of these things – typically, it will only print on one side of a piece of paper.

Final Touch

Reverse carbonless paper (RCP) refers to a special print media often used by businesses for forms such as contracts, invoices, or bank statements. Similar to conventional printed forms, RCP uses special inks that can be erased so users can make changes before final printing. Despite its convenience and popularity with users, RCP has some major drawbacks for businesses looking to save on costs and avoid waste.
