Why Is The Right Material For Bed Linen Important?

There may be occasions where you see a piece of clothing and instantly fall in love with it. However, the feel of the material is very important because no matter how nice it looks, if the material is not comfortable or effective for a certain type of whether, you may end up not wearing it.

Keeping warm

When in a cold climate and especially during the winter season, it is essential that you keep warm. However, it is important to keep in mind that it is not only important that you keep warm during the day but also during the night.

Wearing the right clothing when going to bed at night is not enough as you also need a warm blanket. Covering yourself with a flimsy blanket will not do the trick and will likely keep you up at night, shivering. Take a look at the range of Australian wool blankets as this will be beneficial to you. It will help keep you warm at night allowing you to sleep well.

Washing

Before you wash your clothes, bed sheets and blankets, keep in mind that they may all be of different materials and as not all material can be washed the same way, it is best to mindful of this. For example, it is best not to put materials such as linen in the washing machine as linen tends to shrink in the machine. Therefore, keeping this in mind, you can separate the linen garments and wash it separately.

Ironing

Ironing varies according to the material you are ironing. Some materials iron very easily and some not as easily. Certain material will not be able to withstand high temperatures while others could burn instantly. Materials such as silk can be tricky to iron therefore it is best to keep a cloth on top of the silk garment and then iron and then iron it as this will reduce the chances of the material getting brunt.

Certain materials such as linen may have crease marks after it is ironed. To prevent this from happening, try using a steamer as this could reduce the chance of the material getting burnt and it could also reduce or even eliminate the crease marks shown on the garment.

Handled with care

Materials such as wool are very durable but it still should be handled with care.  Most pieces of clothing can be used for months or even years but only if you look after the garment well. Some people end up using bed sheets and blankets for years and even pass them on to the next generation.

However, in order to do this, you need to handle the garment with care and also understand the material that you are dealing with. For example, if you see the threads coming off on the garment, do not try and pull the threads off using your fingers as this could damage the item. All you need to is use a trimmer to trim the loose threads.

Be mindful that you do not thread the garment too much that you end up tearing it.  Using the right washing powders, knowing whether to machine wash or hand wash the garment, steaming the garment or deciding to iron it can all play a role in whether or not the garment will be able to stand the test of time.
