How Do I Setup Yahoo Mail In Outlook Program?

There are two mail servers, one is incoming and the other is Outgoing, these mail servers are managed by IMAP/POP and SMTP protocols respectively.

It is also important to note that while you went to add Yahoo mail in Outlook. For the incoming mail server, it is preferred to choose “Account Type” as IMAP over POP, as IMAP enables you to access your email account from different devices and email clients while POP does not allow to do that.

  • Username or Email Address: Enter Your Yahoo email address
  • Password: Password for your above stated Yahoo email account.

For Account Type- POP

INCOMING MAIL SERVER- POP
  • Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port Number: 995
  • SSL Required: SSL
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER- SMTP
  • Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port Number: 465 or 587
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • TLS Required: Yes
  • Authentication Required: Yes
USER INFORMATION
  • Name: Your full name
  • Username or Email Address: Enter Your Yahoo email address
  • Password: Password for your above stated Yahoo email account.

Adding Yahoo Email in Outlook

Following is the process which can be used to add and Configure yahoo mail in outlook 365 and its other variants. Moreover, it is a general way of adding an email to Outlook, but beforehand you must know the mail server settings for that email service provider. Now, without further delay, let’s start:

  1. First, you have to open your Outlook software on your desktop or system.
  2. Now, you have to go to the top menu bar and click on the “File” option.
  3. Within the onscreen window, click on the “Add Account” button.
  4. Now, if you are using Outlook 2016 or 365, you just have to type your Yahoo email address. For Outlook version 2016 and 2010, you have to enter your name, email address and password.
  5. Now, check the option within “Advanced settings” so as to Configure yahoo mail in outlook 365 and 2016, and click “Connect”. For other versions, check the Manual settings option and click the “Next” button.

  7. For 365 and 2016, fill in your password in the prompted window and click “Connect”. For 2013 and others, click “OK” and “Finish”.
