How to Do Your Beauty Routine on a Date Night

Getting ready for a date night should be fun and exciting, yet we somehow manage to make it stressful. Instead of being ourselves, we like to go over the top, doing our hair like never before, putting on too much makeup, and dressing into something extra.

All this is unnecessary. What you need is to be yourself with just a bit of extra glamour. And how to achieve this? Here are some useful tips on how to do your beauty routine on a date night.

1.   Don’t do any drastic changes

Our first recommendation would be to never do any drastic or dramatic changes to your look before the date. Don’t cut your hair or die it just before the date. Also, don’t have facials a day before or on the same day as your date. As you know facials can cause break-outs and you wouldn’t want to have a break-out on your face on the date night!

Regardless of whether you already know your date, or you met them through a matchmaking site and this is your first time meeting them in person, the best thing is to just be yourself on that first date, without any dramatic changes to your look.

2.      Take time for prep

Take time to shower or take a bath. Either one of these will help you relax and smell amazing. A shower or a bath will also allow you to reduce bloating and expel toxins from your body. While bathing, you can also do some shaving if need be. After, apply body and face moisturizer.

3.  Take care of your eyes and teeth

This is an optional step but it can be useful. You can put in some eye drops to make your eyes sparkly and you can also apply whitening strips to your teeth. Sparkling eyes and a million-dollar smile can help you on your date.

4.  Do a light mani/pedi

Dedicate a bit of time to your hands and feet. Cut your nails, apply cuticle oil and moisturize your hands and feet. Then, depending on the occasion, apply nail polish. Don’t think that not applying nail polish will go unnoticed. Men notice everything even the nail polish or the lack thereof.

Our recommendation is to go light on the first date. Don’t apply nail polish with vibrant and bold colours, opt for a toned-down look for the first date. Nude or pink, or French manicure is the right way to go!

5. Makeup

When deciding on the makeup look – natural but a bit glammed up is the right way to go. Don’t put on a ton of foundation if you normally don’t do so. Too much foundation can be a huge turn-off for men! Instead, add just a touch of foundation to hide any imperfections.

Then add a blush that will enhance your features. Choose a blush that complements your skin tone, something natural that won’t look way out of place on your face.

Put a bit of eyeshadow in a neutral colour – nude or a bit darker and don’t forget the mascara. False eyelashes are a no-no unless you use them regularly.

And as a cherry on the top, add a bit of lip-gloss, but once again don’t go heavy on it. A light sheen will suffice and will likely earn you a kiss on the lips.

6.      Be careful with perfume

If you think there’s no such thing as too much perfume, you’re wrong. Drowning yourself in perfume can be a huge turn-off. That’s why you should go easy on the perfume too.

Spray the perfume you like in the air and walk through it. Try to stick to floral scents since they attract men more than powdery and coconut-scented perfumes.

And there you have it. A couple of tips that will help you prepare for your first date. What’s most important is that you feel comfortable and good in your skin. Try not to send a false impression of yourself to your date. Simply wear what you normally would and you’ll be perfect!
