Solar Energy: India Is Fast Catching Up With The World

Solar energy is the future resource for India, as the energy sector demand is ever increasing day by day. This energy sector if tapped properly will play a pivotal role in the upcoming days. The concept of green computing is helping it too. It is one of the fastest-growing industries in India. The solar capacity of India was around 42,800 MW in the year 2019. At the same time, China’s capacity was around 204,700 MW. So the difference is quite large. India has a target of 100 GW till the year 2022.

So What Is India Doing About It

1. Alliance With USA

India has tied up with the US to generate more electricity from solar energy and it wants to reduce its dependence on other sources such as coal and gas. Many villages in India still do not have electricity. As India is more dependent on the thermal energy source for electricity. With help of the US, it wants to adopt the technology and learn the mechanism of implementation of it on the large scale. They are going to allow 100% foreign direct investment in this sector. Which would give a boost to this sector.

2. Geographical Advantage

The western part of India could be used as an advantage, area like Rajasthan, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh can be strategically used for the setup of Solar Energy. India has around 300 sunny days throughout the year, due to its geographical location. This can be used for the generation of electricity using photovoltaic cells in a manner that will absorb more sun rays. Currently, India is more dependent on the other countries for solar equipment, as they import a lot of this material the cost of this is on the higher side. Homegrown companies like Adani Power, Tata Solar, Jinko Solar, Trina Solar, ACME solar would help in changing this scene.

3. Solar for house

Domestic demand in India is very high, solar energy can be a cost-effective option for the country. Many states are giving a lot of tax exemption for the companies and houses which are using solar power. The current lot of solar panels used can are showing better results. The rooftop solar panels concept is fast catching in urban and rural India as a lot of awareness is being made by the local government. Also, people are becoming more aware of the use of natural resources due to which many nature enthusiasts are trying this as an option in their house. Also in India, there has been a lot of misuse of natural resources and there is no way to recover it back. Especially coal mining has done a lot of damage to the natural habitat of the animals all this can be stopped if we move somehow to reduce our dependency on coal it would be great. Solar energy seems to be the answer to all of the problems.

Conclusion:

In the year 2020 India has added around 36.9 GW of Solar energy and in the year 2019 it 9900 MW. Which is a great leap in the amount of Solar energy.
