10 Ways To Boost Your Immunity

The human body is regularly subjected to viruses and other environmental factors that can affect our health. The common cold, throat problems, joint pains, and even heart disease and diabetes are all related to how well our body can fight against definite risk factors. The immune system of our body is responsible for protecting it from various infections and illnesses. It is the first belt against the defense of viruses and bacteria and should be kept strong to stay healthy.

So, what can we do to boost our immunity? How can we make sure that our immunity is strong enough to fight against the viruses that the body faces?

To help, I’ve put together a list of tips on how you can keep your immune system fresh and strong.

1. Maintaining hand hygiene

Soap and water can be very helpful in stopping the transmission of the infection. Some viruses have a lipid layer on the outside, so simple hand washing breaks them down and stops them from spreading. We’ve also picked up that a person’s basic level of health is relevant to how well the body copes with infection. Changing Lifestyle can do nothing to stop you from becoming unwell that mostly comes down to hand hygiene but they can help to strengthen your body and mind. The strength of the immune system varies not only from person to person but also from day to day its ability to fight against disease fluctuates depending on many factors. Whenever you are outdoor don’t forget to carry a sanitizer with you which will enable your hands to be clean all the time if not that then you can also carry disinfectants and wipes which are also readily available in the market. 

2. Enjoy a Healthy Diet

Like any military force, the immune system army walks on its stomach. Healthy immune system warriors need good and well-ordered nourishment. A complete and balanced diet plays a major role in improving immunity. Your diet must include fruits, vegetables, and cereals as they are rich in fiber and vitamins. Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, and Mushrooms produce a chemical that prevents the growth of cancer cells and help boost immunity.

3. Maintain a Healthy Body Weight

It is well recognized that obesity is a risk factor in the outcoming of high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. Not just that, it can also affect the bones and can lead to early osteoarthritis and even osteoporosis. The only solution for all this is to lose weight through a healthy diet and exercise, and you can boost your immunity remarkably.

4. Regular exercise

Physical activity is essential to keep your body fit and active. walking, jogging, playing a sport are some ways to strengthen your immune system.  Just like a healthy diet, exercise is also important for good health and therefore to a healthy immune system. It may put up even more directly by promoting good circulation, which allows the cells and substances of the immune system to move freely through the body and do their job efficiently.

5. Reduce Stress

Stress is something we all face every single day. The important thing is that stress should not affect our life. All kinds of stress have an impact on our sleep patterns, diet, and exercise patterns. Those who have a bit more stress may have difficulty sleeping and this can affect immunity. Stress can be managed through rest and relaxation. Those who carry out regular yoga may find that it becomes easier to handle stress. And By doing so, you can improve your immunity and your resistance against infections.

6. Sleep Well

It is recommended that we get a good night’s sleep for at least 7 – 9 hours every night. For many, this is impossible due to their busy schedule. Sleep is a time when the body refreshes itself. It is also the time when the immune system gets the rest it needs so that it can manage the following day’s rush. Your body needs proper rest to boost your immunity.

7. Don’t smoke

It is a well-known fact that smoking is injurious for health. Smoking increases the risk of cancer along with other problems such as heart disease, kidney disease, and asthma are also caused by smoking. Smoking has several negative effects on immune system health, such as:

  • Serious susceptibility to infections such as pneumonia and influenza.
  • More severe and longer-lasting illnesses.
  • Lower the levels of antioxidants present in the blood.
  • The harmful elements in smoke can also lead to the formation of free radicals in the body. Free radicals have the power of damaging the immune system. 

8. Control your Alcohol Intake:

If you are someone who does not drink alcohol, then skip this tip. However, if you are someone who consumes alcohol from time to time, then pay attention as this can affect your immunity. If you wish to consume alcohol, do within limits. It will not be harmful if it is practiced in limits, but once it crosses the threshold, it can cause more problems. So, reduce alcohol or stop completely and your immunity tremendously.

9. Snack on Almonds

Almonds are an amazing choice when it comes to snacks. Not only are they being rich in protein and good fats but they also contain certain elements that can improve the ability of the immune system to fight viruses. It is easy to involve almonds as a part of your daily diet. Just take a fistful of them every day when you feel like snacking. Not only is it a fit snack, but you will also get the immune boost your body needs.

10. Laugh, Sing, and Smile

Studies have found that laughing can improve your mood and thus boost the immune system. There is the main reason why people say “laughter is the best medicine”. By laughing regularly, you could increase the levels of the immune cells in the bloodstream which can fight against bacteria and viruses. Singing has also been found as an immunity booster. Singing regularly was found to improve the blood flow to the spleen which is the center of the body that is responsible for the generation of red blood cells. Stay happy, laugh loudly, and sing. It will keep you healthy for the coming years.
