Ways to Pack Your Suitcase More Efficiently

Packing up a suitcase may sound so easy. However, for those who don’t travel that much, it could be quite a challenge to fit all your essentials in one bag. Although you could just stuff in more items into your suitcase or just add an extra bag, it would be stressful to carry all that load from one city to the next.

Packing light is a tip that almost every traveller keeps in their mind. It is easier to travel when you only have a few baggage to carry plus you still have plenty of room for new items that you bought during your trip. To help you pack wisely and more efficiently, here are some tips you should follow.

Choose a Small Suitcase

Basically, the bigger the suitcase you have, the more things you could stuff into it. Start with your suitcase if you want to travel light. Look for one that has hard sides and doesn’t exceed 22 inches tall to limit the quantity of items you could pack.

Pack by Numbers

If you’re really confused on how many items you should pack in your suitcase, packing by numbers really helps a lot. Limit the number of garments you pack especially if you’re just away for a short trip. Pack five sets of undergarments, four shirts or blouses, three bottoms, two pairs of footwear, and one accessory. You could also pack a swimsuit, dress, and workout clothes if you think you need them.

Use Tetris Style in Packing

Since you only have a small suitcase, you should maximize the storage space by filling in every inch of space in the bag; just like how you arrange blocks in a Tetris game. For instance, you could store your socks inside the shoes to save space. You could also try rolling your clothes to make them smaller and more compact, thus easier to pack tightly. Packing cubes also help a lot in storing your clothes in a compact way and keeping them organized.

Have a Separate Bag for Toiletries

When travelling, it is best to keep all of the toiletries in a separate bag. Place this bag somewhere in your suitcase that is easily accessible so you don’t need to unpack all your stuff in case of a security inspection or just when you need some cleaners while you’re travelling.

When unpacking your bag, leave all the toiletries inside its own bag and just place it in the bathroom drawer. That way, when you need to go, simply grab the bag and pack it into the suitcase. If you’re travelling more frequently, you could also have a travel toiletry bag that you just grab and go; no more unpacking and repacking them.

With these packing tips, you can be sure that all your items are properly packed plus it is also easier to keep things organized when they are packed efficiently. There’s no need to carry a huge luggage when you’re going out for a vacation.
